Glam Tropical Fairmont Orchid Wedding

Saturday, 17 September 2016 18:06

Brett and Katie had a perfect modern tropical destination wedding all their friends and family at the Fairmont Orchid on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. This wedding was so fresh with bold colors and Katie totally killed it in her Vera Wang wedding dress. But, let's talk about this arch. The couple's vision for color and statement design was perfectly executed by Sara Kam of Jots of Thoughts with florals by Grace Flowers. I think the purple bougainvillea was such a smart choice for total impact with out blowing the budget. It was such a treat to shoot photos with it as a backdrop. Hair and makeup perfectly done, as always, by Mara. I loved how the event was a really elegant twist on a Hawaiian holiday with a full luau meal and Polynesian entertainment for their many guests that came from around the country to celebrate with them. Congratulations to Brett and Katie.

Pololu Valley Wedding

Friday, 17 July 2015 19:28

This is the most adventurous wedding I have ever photographed! Lindsay and Brian have been traveling the world surfing and exploring but when they set their eyes on the majestic Pololu Valley on the Big Island's North Shore they decided to elope. Sara of Jots of Thoughts and I hiked down into the valley where the intimate ceremony was performed in the forests then they celebrated playing on the beach. What an amazing day! I look forward to sharing more of this stunning couple in the most incredible place. Aloha!

Bikini Birdie Published on Snippet & Ink

Wednesday, 29 April 2015 20:57

I am thrilled to see the beautiful wedding blog Snippet & Ink published two Bikini Birdie Weddings today. The first is Laura and Gonzalo's elegant and rustic Segovia wedding at Finca Aldeallana. The blog also featured Monica and Valerio's Formentera wedding at 10.7 Formentera. I loved both of these weddings so much and had a great time documenting all the love. It is a pleasure to see my work featured on such a lovely site. Check out the links when you have a chance here and here.

Anika is from the Big Island's Hilo side so it was a real homecoming for her to tie the know with her amazing partner, Ryan. They had a lovely wedding ceremony at a private home in Keauhou mauka. Congratulations to these two! I look forward to sharing more from this very special Hawaii destination wedding.

Adam and Amy came from their home in New Zealand to the Big Island of Hawai'i for their very special destination wedding at the Hokukano Bayhouse at Keauhou Bay.  Adam's family all made trip from NZ to Kona for the big event, and Amy's from the cold winter of Minnesota. They were so lovely and I had a great time getting to know this beautiful couple and all of their loved ones. Vintage and Lace teamed up with Passion Flowers by Nalani made for a flawless evening and gorgeous styling, which I look forward to sharing in a future post. For now, I wish Amy and Adam all the best, and lots of Aloha!

Sarah and Rob decided to leave all the fuss of planning a big wedding back home in Ohio, and flew to the beautiful island of Kauai for an intimate destination wedding for two. It was the first time I have ever buttoned up a bride's dress, because I was the only person there. It was such an honor to share in their wedding and obviously, Kauai is pretty much tops as a backdrop. Since there was no rush to get back to the guests, we drove around the island's north shore for photos before the couple continued on their honeymoon/wedding trip. Aloha!

I've already written about what a treat it was to photograph this beautiful family, but I am excited to share more from their destination wedding on Oahu's North Shore. I feel grateful that I got to be a part of such a special and intimate occasion with these two and their adorable baby boy. Heather and Matt did it right! Heather looked beautiful in her Grace Loves Lace dress (brides: check out their site!) and Kahu Pomaika‘i ordained a lovely non-denominational Hawaiian ceremony right on Kawela Bay. It was a dreamy event full of Aloha.

I don't  know where to start about how sweet and genuine these two are (and beautiful!). I am so happy Kristi and Garrett found each other and invited me to be a part of such a special day. They decided to have a destination wedding on the Big Island after visiting the chapel at the Kona Sheraton and falling in love with the setting. Their ceremony and reception was dripping with love and emotion on a day with record high surf. Congratulations to you two!
