Malmö and Stockholm

Monday, 02 September 2013 10:29

In Sweden we visited Malmö and Stockholm during the Baltic tour. The weather was damp and cold the day we strolled through Malmö, but the sun was shining in Stockholm and the Swedes came out to enjoy it.

This is Valencia's own Santiago Calatrava's Turning Torso in Malmö. The tallest building in Scandanavia, where the windows don't even open.

Finland!

Finland was the following stop on the Baltic whirlwind tour. We hit Porvoo and Helsinki and all the sights in between over the course of one day.

Tallinn Estonia

During the travel piece I worked on in the Baltic capitals, my first stop was Tallinn, Estonia. I arrived via Barcelona after photographing a wedding the night before and then missed the car waiting for me to take me around the city and instead got on a bus.... disaster... disaster.... Long story short, I ran around old town Tallinn trying to connect with people and get images in focus before I took off some three hours later for St. Petersburg. It was nice to go through my take again for this post to see what I saw.. in my head it is all such a blur. I did love the blankets on the chairs for outdoor seating, in case of a chill, and elk sausage: yum.

St. Petersburg Russia

Monday, 22 July 2013 11:19

I was lucky enough to get assigned to a travel story with the fantastic Spanish journalist Rosa M. Tristan. We spent two days in the cultural capital of Russia. It was both exciting and challenging to be on a strict touristic route and find interesting images to illustrate the city. We visited five other Baltic capitals which I look forward to sharing in the future.

I had such a nice time meeting and photographing George Lewitzki of Keoki putters who was gracious enough to enlighten me on golf and show me around his pro shop, Golf Treasures in Hilo, Big Island. The photos were commissioned by Hana Hou! The Magazine of Hawaiian Airlines and appear in the latest April/May print edition. Aloha!

Ojo de Agua for Kireei Magazine

Friday, 15 March 2013 11:03

I love working with Kireei Magazine. I photographed independent Spanish clothing designer Tochemoa for issue #1 and Emes for issue #2. I was over the moon when Cristina asked me to do a documentary shoot of the democratic school Ojo de Agua. The magazine, as always, is a must purchase. I had an amazing time at Ojo de Agua and learning about unschooling with the gracious staff was a wonderful experience.
